MP Calls for Co-operation

"Let’s work alongside Chill-Out and refocus our attack, where it belongs, on a Government who undermine the security of families and local communities." Jim Dobbin MP

Heywood and Middleton MP, Jim Dobbin, has joined in the Chill-Out conversation taking place in the Borough of Rochdale following the statement made by Simon Danczuk, MP earlier in the week.  Together with Council Leader, Colin Lambert, Mr Dobbin has directed attention towards the drastic cuts being enforced on the Borough by the Coalition Government.

In his statement Mr Dobbin called for co-operation with Chill-Out and we whole-heartedly welcome his intervention.

Council Leader, Colin Lambert, said, "“It is wrong to suggest that it is council policies that are making people homeless or that we are not providing for the homeless.""

Chill-Out would also agree with Mr Lambert's statement, homelessness is a national concern not just a local one but our campaign firmly believes that there is a shared responsibility here and that the way in which these cuts were managed and implemented is due to local-decision making and the Council needs to accept responsibility for this.

House of Commons figures show an alarming 200% rise in the Borough of Rochdale over the past 12-months and 13 groups dealing with this growing issue have lost their contracts. Our concerns are that the present provision lacks joined-up thinking in places and is unable to cope with the strain which is, and will continue to be, placed upon it in the coming months.

Chill-Out will be extending an invitation to Mr Dobbin to join us on 29th May.
